Welcome to Rift Woodworking. By accessing our website (https://riftwoodworking.com) and commissioning or purchasing our furniture, you agree to be bound by the following Terms of Service. Please read them carefully before placing an order.

1. Custom Commissions & Build-to-Order Contract

Because we specialize in premium, handcrafted furniture, many of our pieces are built to order.

  • Design Approval: For custom projects, final dimensions, material selections (e.g., White Oak, Walnut), and structural details are finalized and agreed upon via design renderings or spec sheets prior to cutting lumber. Once fabrication begins, design modifications may incur additional material and labor charges.

  • Lead Times: Any estimated completion dates provided are professional estimates based on our current workshop schedule, material sourcing, and build complexity. We prioritize structural integrity and artisan quality over rushing a build; we will keep you updated on any shifts in your piece's timeline.

2. Nature of Solid Wood Construction

Wood is a organic, living medium. By purchasing from Rift Woodworking, you acknowledge and accept the unique characteristics inherent to solid premium hardwoods:

  • Natural Variations: Grain patterns, knots, unique mineral streaks, and natural color variations are completely normal and celebrated features of fine furniture. No two pieces will look identical.

  • Environmental Movement: Solid wood naturally expands and contracts in response to changes in relative humidity and temperature. While we utilize professional joinery techniques designed to allow for wood movement (such as figure-8 fasteners), minimal seasonal shifting is normal and is not considered a structural defect.

3. Payment & Pricing Terms

  • Catalog Purchases: Standard catalog orders must be paid in full at the time of checkout on our online store.

  • Custom Commission Deposits: Custom projects require a baseline non-refundable deposit to secure workshop scheduling and source specific lumber. Final outstanding balances must be cleared either prior to or directly upon physical local delivery.

  • Pricing Adjustments: Rift Woodworking reserves the right to adjust pricing for catalog items or custom quotes at any time due to sudden fluctuations in raw hardwood lumber markets.

4. Local Delivery & Regional Service Area

  • Service Radius: We operate out of Hendersonville, TN, and explicitly serve a 90-mile Middle Tennessee radius (including Nashville, Clarksville, Murfreesboro, and surrounding areas).

  • Delivery Readiness: It is the client's responsibility to ensure that the designated delivery space is clear and that pathways, doorways, or stairwells can structurally accommodate the dimensions of the heavy solid wood furniture.

  • Title Transfer: Risk of loss and title for the items passes to you completely upon physical handoff and delivery at your location.

5. Return and Cancellation Policy

Our Return and Cancellation policies are governed by our separate Refund & Return Policy. In brief:

  • Standard catalog items may be returned within 10 days of delivery at the customer's transport expense.

  • Custom, built-to-order commissions are tailored to your space and are completely final sale and non-returnable.

6. Limitation of Liability

Rift Woodworking shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising out of the delivery, installation, or long-term use of our products. Our maximum liability to you for any issue relating to an order is strictly capped at the total dollar amount paid to us for that specific item.

7. Governing Law

These Terms of Service and any separate agreements whereby we provide you furniture or services shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Tennessee.
